Glossary of Terms*
Mediumship* Defined as the practice of certain people-known as mediums-to mediate communication between spirits and animals of those that have crossed over, the spirit world (also known as the other side), and other human beings. In Spiritualism, the role of the medium is to be an intermediary between the world of the living and the spirit world. There are two types of Mediumship in two main categories: 'mental' and 'physical'.
Mental Mediumship* Defined as the communication of spirits with a medium by telepathy. Mental mediums are believed to 'tune in' to the spirit world by listening, sensing, or seeing spirits or symbols. The medium mentally 'hears' (Clairaudience), 'sees' (Clairvoyance), 'feels' (Clairsentience), and 'senses' (Clairsentience) messages, thoughts, and actions from spirits and animals. The medium passes on the information to the message's recipient(s).
Empath/Empathic/Clairempathy* Defined as Empathy it is the capacity and ability to understand the thoughts and thinking and to share the feelings physically and emotionally of what another person or animal is, has, or is able to experience from their point of view.
Conduit* Defined as a means for contact or communication between spiritual realms, energies, or metaphysical energy.
Clairvoyance* Defined as Clear Sight or Vision it is the ability to see anything that is not physically present, such as objects, animals, or people. Some clairvoyant mediums can see a spirit as though the spirit has a physical body. The ability to see the bodily form as if it were physically present. Other mediums see the spirit or animal in their mind's eye, or it appears as a movie or a television program, or still picture like a photo in their mind.
Clairaudience* Defined as Clear Hearing, this i the ability to hear the voices or thoughts of spirits and animals and sounds of places or actions that have or can take place. Hearing and listening to a spirit(s) talking through the mind and thought.
Clairsentience* Defined as Clear Sensing it is the ability to have an impression of what a spirit or animal wants to communicate or to feel sensations instilled by a spirit or animal.
Clairsentience/Clairsentinence* Defined as Clear Feeling this can be a condition in which the medium takes on the ailments of a spirit, feeling the same physical problem that the spirit person had before death. This also holds true for the person the medium reads for. The medium's capability to feel the ailments of the person being read for at the time of a consult. This clear feeling also consists of the emotional feelings and personalities of the spirit or animal.
Claircognizance* Defined as Clear Knowing is the inner or psychic picture whether it is a person, scene or object, lights, colors or other impressions, clairvoyance may be a view of some happening occurring far away (clairvoyance-in-space) or removed in time (clairvoyance-in-time) when the actual event is viewed, or it may be symbolic.
Clairalience/Clairosmesis/Clairolfaction/Clairscent/Clairessence* Defined as Clear Smelling it is the intuitive or psychic impression through the sense of smell.
Clairgustance* Defined as Clear Taste it is the intuitive or psychic impression through the sense of taste.
